We are independently assessed and regulated by a range of organisations, including local authorities and Ofsted, the national inspection body. What they say matters a lot to us.
We are delighted that Ofsted rates each of our nurseries very highly. Our established nurseries at Rathvilly, Stonehouse Farm and Ashton Court are all Ofsted-rated Outstanding, while our newest nursery, St Edward's, is working towards this accolade – it is currently rated Good.
Some of the things Ofsted inspectors say about our nurseries include:
There is "strong leadership and great team work...everyone is enthusiastic and completely dedicated to providing high quality daycare..." (Rathvilly School, Outstanding, Ofsted 2014)
"Children's care and early education is successfully promoted by a very dedicated, caring and motivated team of adults who are very passionate about the service they provide. Morale is high and their energy and enthusiasm has a positive impact and results in a setting of exceptionally high calibre..." (Stonehouse Farm, Outstanding, Ofsted 2013)
"Staff are extremely well supported in their professional development and receive expert coaching and mentoring...this supports the maintenance of the exceptional quality provision for children in the nursery." (Ashton Court, Outstanding, Ofsted 2013)
The people whose opinions matter even more to us are our parents and children. These are some of the lovely things they have told us in 2015:
Charlie, aged 3: "Everybody is kind to me and my baby brother Frankie. We love going to nursery to see all our friends and the lovely staff who take very good care of us. They play with us and teach us new things. First Steps is the best! We Love You."
Oscar's mummy and daddy: "First Steps St Edward's is full of love and fun. Oscar has blossomed into a confident, cheeky 2 year old who runs into nursery every day excited to see his friends and play, run, stick, paint, get wet, get sandy, eat glitter, cause mischief, read, laugh…"
Lucy's parents: "Lucy gets to explore her creative side, particularly through getting messy with paints! We love the warm welcome at First Steps."
Lincoln: "I like playing, making and sticking things. I like getting a sticker when I help."
Lincoln's mum and dad: "We love First Steps because from the moment we drop Lincoln off to when we pick him up we don't worry – we know he will be loved, cared for and have non-stop entertainment!"
Evie: "I love it because when I am sad I always get comforted no matter what! I love it because I learn new things to prepare me for school and most importantly it's so much fun!"
Benjamin: "We love St Edward's because you are my extended family!"
Kerr family: "No two days are the same for our son – every day he learns something new. They encourage development and keep him happy. They also create lovely healthy meals, which is important to us."
Joseph's mummy and daddy: "The outdoor play area is lovely and the facilities are great. Joseph has made some fantastic friends and always looks forward to coming to nursery."
Arabella's parents: "The staff are so kind and caring. Arabella loves the monkeys in the sensory room best of all!"
